The gateway to the Little Karoo

The moment your drive through that iconic hole in the mountain, gazing out at Kogmanskloof sandstone, folded and faulted over 500 million years ago, you know that you’re entering a magical place. The beautiful town of Montagu: famous for its hot springs, delicious dried fruit, rock climbing, mountain biking and hiking and endless adventures.

Montagu lies nestled between the beautiful Langeberg Mountains on Route 62 – the famous tourist route. It’s an ideal pitstop between the Cape Winelands and the Garden Route, and close to the Robertson Wine Valley and the Breede River Valley.

Montagu Country Hotel is the town’s hub and the base of the Montagu-Ashton Tourism Office, so you’re guaranteed a rich experience of the area.
